Executive Officer's Message - FNQ ACC - Far North Queensland Area Consultative Committee Australia - FNQ ACC
HELLO ALL,

FNQ ACC is entering a new and exciting phase of change with the introduction
of the Regional Partnerships Programme.

The Australian Government’s new Regional Partnerships programme will be the centrepiece of FNQ ACC’s development priorities and initiatives in the year ahead.

Thomas Vieira
Executive Officer
FNQACC

The new programme recognises the vital role played by regional development organisations and local governments in the
country’s future prosperity. An exciting initiative will see private enterprise eligible to apply for funding under the new programme.

We will work in partnership with local governments, regional
development organisations, community groups and individuals
on new projects that generate economic activity, capacity building
and community benefit. Special consideration will be given to communities with a population of 5,000 people or less. Projects
that may not be large developments in relative terms will be
encouraged and supported – provided they meet approval
criteria – because of the significant economic or social and
community benefit outcomes that can be achieved in a
small town or community.

A key aspect of Regional Partnerships is the FNQ ACC commitment to assist proponents to leverage further funding from regional development organisations, local and State government and the private sector. This leveraging potential underscores the need for strong regional relationships to ensure effective investment and tangible outcomes from the available funding.

FNQ ACC will have a greater role in the Regional Partnerships Programme than existed previously. Regional Partnerships will have several major advantages – it will be one programme, with one set of guidelines and one simpler application form to make it easier for communities to gain access to funding.

I invite organisations and individuals with bona fide business and development proposals to approach FNQ ACC directly in Cairns. Through our Small Business Field Officers, Sugar Executive Officer, Indigenous Employment Officer and relationships with other government and community services we can put resources and people behind such proposals to help them get off the ground.
